Not strictly planning, but I’m proud of these popular guidebooks that I researched, wrote and photographed in commissions for Renfrewshire Council’s Planning Department over the last couple of years. The graphic design is courtesy of former colleague Aileen McDonald.
The aim of the guidebooks is to get local people out and about enjoying the stunning countryside that Renfrewshire has to offer. There’s a link with the healthy living agenda – and also with economic development. Spending a little money in cafes and pubs while you’re out enjoying yourself can’t be bad for the local economy, can it?
You can pick up copies of the guides free of charge from libraries in Renfrewshire. More details about the guides, and how to get hold of them, are on the relevant page of the Council’s website.
But this being the web, your local library might just not be in Renfrewshire. So here are a couple of sample PDFs – a cycle ride and a walk for download. They’ll give you a flavour of the quality and design of the guidebooks, as well as an idea of what a lovely part of the world this is.
